  The serial number is stored in the computer registry. Open the registry by going to the Start button at the bottom left of your desktop, and type into the search box-
  regedit
  then navigate to-
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software
  and look for Electronic Arts folder. If you dont see it, you may be running a 64bt OS, so look for Wow6432Node, open it and continue this path-
  Electronic Arts/Sims/The Sims 3/ergc
  Click on ergc once to highlite it, and your serial number should appear on the right side of the window.

  what if you are looking for the code for an expansion pack?
  I am using Windows 7 and I install all of my programs in the Program Files (x86) folder instead of the Program Files folder. I noticed that programs I install in the (x86) did not show up in the registry editor.
  I am looking for The Sims 3 Generations.

  Ok, I did the whole thing with the registry key.
  It tells me my serial number but when I try to type it in, it wont work.
  Is there something wrong or did I do something wrong?

  That plum. I learned with TS2 to go ahead and write the number on my discs with permanent marker. Because I lost insert with the code and was sooo upset.

  If you registered your game via Sims 3 website, it should also register on your Origin Client too.
  Under MyGames, it should list all the game that you registered.
  On the game you want the key, click on the italic I letter. It should show your product key there.

  at first i typed in the sims 3 serial number and i wouldnt work so then i tryed myy seasons serial code and it worked so if you have an expansion pack try that code. hope i helped :thumbup:

  The serial code for your registered game can be viewed via the Origin download manager application program - simply hover the mouse pointer over the product thumbnail picture in the My Games tab and then click on the 'i' icon that appears. The latest version of the Origin client can be downloaded from the following link, depending on the computer platform being used:

  Okay mine is located in a completely different spot and I found it but it doesn't have the ergc thing so I can't do any of that.. Is there any other way to find the serial code?

  Hey everybody! So the code that you find on your computer is the registration code!!! Not the actual serial code. I went to my Origin account and tried to redeem my code, but it took me to the Sims 3 website. When I tried putting the code into 'Redeem my Code', it wouldn't work because the code they had was only 16 characters, and the code I had was 20 characters. What you have to do is REGISTER your game!! This is the code that is 16 characters. Then it will automatically download it onto your Origin account so that you can install it into your computer. Hope this helps!!
